One of my major goals in writing this blog is to promote variation in choice of running footwear, particularly shoes that might be classified as reduced or minimalist. Given this, I’ve chosen for the most part to avoid reviewing shoes that weigh over 10oz, or that are stacked with pronation control/stability features. This Nike Air VaporMax Damen still leaves a large number of shoes to choose from, and I unfortunately cannot afford to buy every shoe that’s on the market, nor do I have the time or ability to run enough miles to try them all out (believe me, I wish Nike Air Max 90 Femme Rose I did!).“Designed and developed by the best marathoners in the world, the Streak 3 is a versatile 5k to marathon road racing shoe. The Cushlon LT midsole and Zoom Air unit in the heel gives ample support and cushioning. Ounce for ounce, the one piece upper reduces siginficant weight and also allows for rapid water drainage.“Nike Zoom Streak 3The shoe weighs 6.7 oz, and as a racing flat, appears to have a relatively low heel (don’t know the actual drop numbers). It’s a shoe that I have looked at a few times, mainly because it appears to have been the shoe on the feet of both Robert Cheruiyot and Meb Keflezighi in the Adidas Superstar Femme 2010 Boston Marathon (check out the video below to see what I believe to be the Zoom Streak 3 in action on the first and last runners to pass by). Cheruiyot won Boston this year, and Meb won the NYC Marathon last year Nike Air Max 2017 Femme – not a bad pair of endorsements for a running shoe!Video clip of elite males running near mile 17 of the 2010 Boston Marathon. Mebrahtom Keflezighi.Anyway, since I probably won’t be getting Meb or Cheruiyot on here to write a review, I’ll refer you to the next best option – friend and fellow dailymile Team member Caleb Masland (see picture at left). Caleb is a Nike fan and a seriously fast runner (he ran sub-3:00 in Boston this year), and just posted a review of his experience so far with the Zoom Streak 3 on his blog, Becoming Bonkproof. Here’s a short excerpt:“The Streak 3 are Nike’s update to the Marathoner, so they are www.aadkruiswijk.nl intended to have a blend of responsiveness and durability. I’d say they are true to this in general. They are not as soft as the Lunaracers, or a Saucony Kinvara (my other new shoe….), but they do feel very responsive, flexible, Nike Air VaporMax Dames and quick in transition. I do feel that they will hold up very well over the course of a half or full marathon as well.“I didn’t really have much intention of doing another barefoot run, but I’ve been discussing the topic a lot lately in an on-line discussion forum, and was convinced by another member that I should give it another try (thanks Harry!). Harry is a guy that got into barefoot running due to frequent injuries experienced while running in traditional shoes, and he saw his injuries resolve themselves as his form changed while running barefoot (he’s now a forefoot striker). He has since migrated back www.jamlikhalsavast.se into minimalist shoes (mixed with barefooting) and currently prefers the Terra Plana Evo and a pair of Nike Free 3.0’s that he had a cobbler modify so that they would have no drop in sole height from heel to toe (see a Nike Air Max 90 Womens picture of his zero-drop Free’s below – you can read more about Harry’s modified shoes here). Long story short, Harry has made amazing progress, and this morning he won his first race, a 5k with over 500 runners (run in his modified Free’s)!One of the problems with my two previous attempts at barefoot running (you can read about attempt #1 and attempt #2 here on Runblogger) was that they were both done at night, and I suspect this played a role in the difficulty I had scanning the ground for rocks and pebbles, which cause a lot of pain when you land on them (headlamps just don’t cut it for this purpose). I told my www.alanadavies.co.uk wife this afternoon that I was considering doing another barefoot run, but was hesitant about doing it during the day for fear that I might be viewed by the neighbors as some kind of lunatic. She basically told me to suck Adidas Superstar Dam it up and go, and not worry what anyone might think (that’s why I married her, but I think she’d just prefer I go barefoot full-time so that I’ll stop buying shoes!). I grabbed Jack, and we set off. It’s amazing how much faster you can get out the door when you don’t have to fuss about shoes.
